MAI provides both non-discretionary and discretionary investment consulting services, including asset allocation modeling, manager selection, performance reporting, and investment policy development. MAI also provides investment supervisory services in the direct management of client portfolios on a discretionary basis. MAI does not participate in wrap fee programs or accept soft dollar payments.

Marquette Associates charges fees in three ways:
- Flat fee: Negotiated based on the value of assets, portfolio complexity, travel, and meetings. Billed quarterly in advance or arrears.
- Percentage of assets: Negotiated based on the same factors as flat fees. Charged quarterly based on the value of assets at the end of the previous quarter, billed in advance or arrears.
- Hourly rate: Used for specific consulting projects, billed upon completion.
