About Samuel

Retirement income planning is my specialty. Over the last decade, I've studied the strategies that actually make retirement work — withdrawal sequencing, tax-efficient income planning, portfolio risk management — and I've put that knowledge to use helping other advisors, many with 15 to 30 years of experience, build financial plans and investment portfolios for their retirement clients. That's an unusual background, and it means I've seen a lot of what works and what doesn't before a client ever walks through my door. What's also a little different: I have about 40 years until I retire myself. I'm not winding down my career. I’m building one. That means the clients I start working with today, I can still be serving in 40 years. Retirement planning is a long game, and so is this relationship. A lot of advisors will hand you a retirement portfolio and tell you you're going to be fine. That's not enough. I want clients to understand how retirement will work. More specifically, how their income will flow, how withdrawals will be sequenced, how we'll manage taxes across their accounts, and what the plan looks like when markets cooperate and when they don't. That matters because there are two ways to fail in retirement: running out of money, and dying with too much — with experiences unlived because you spent years afraid to touch your savings. Both failures are real, and both are preventable. Retirement income planning, done well, addresses both. Clients who genuinely understand their plan spend confidently. Clients who don't tend to second-guess every decision — how much they spend, whether their investments are right, whether they retired too soon. I've seen other advisors rush people through the transition, and I've seen what that costs them. I'm not in a hurry.
